The 103rd Brigade (military unit A7038) is headquartered in Lviv Oblast, with battalions distributed across major cities including Lviv, Drohobych, Stryi, and Chervonohrad. It operates under the Western Operational Command and is part of the structured Territorial Defense Forces within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Historical Background – 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade:

The 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade (unit A7038) was created in 2018 as part of Ukraine’s expansion of its territorial defense system. Based in Lviv Oblast, it plays a vital role in training reservists, defending strategic infrastructure, and maintaining readiness in western Ukraine.

During the full-scale Russian invasion beginning in February 2022, the brigade’s battalions were actively deployed beyond their home region. Units from the 103rd participated in several key operations in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, including the Kharkiv counteroffensive, where they helped liberate settlements and secure supply routes.

The brigade earned recognition for its combat effectiveness and coordination with regular army forces. In 2023, some battalions continued to operate in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia sectors, providing support in combined arms operations and territorial control missions.

Today, the 103rd Brigade remains a fully active formation in Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces, combining local protection responsibilities with operational deployment across conflict zones.
