Historical Background – 118th Territorial Defense Brigade:

The 118th Territorial Defense Brigade (unit A7167) was formed in 2018 as part of the broader effort to build Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces. Headquartered in Poltava, the brigade encompasses multiple battalions spread across the oblast, including units stationed in Kremenchuk, Lubny, and Myrhorod.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russian forces in February 2022, the 118th Brigade was mobilized to secure critical infrastructure in Poltava Oblast and later took part in reinforcement operations near Kharkiv and eastern fronts. Its battalions played support and reserve roles in counteroffensive missions, contributing to stabilization efforts in liberated areas.

The brigade continues its service under the TDF structure, focusing on training local defense volunteers and maintaining readiness for operational deployment. As of 2024, the 118th Brigade remains an integral part of Ukraine’s multi-layered defense system.
