Historical Background – 124th Territorial Defense Brigade:

The 124th Territorial Defense Brigade (military unit A7053) was established on June 30, 2018, in Kherson Oblast as part of Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its military reserve forces. The brigade comprises several Territorial Defense Battalions located in various districts of Kherson Oblast, including Kherson, Beryslav, Bilozerka, Skadovsk, Nova Kakhovka, and Henichesk.

With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, the brigade’s units were actively involved in the defense of key regions. Notably, the 192nd Territorial Defense Battalion engaged in the defense of Kherson, covering the retreat of regular army units during the battle for the Antonivka Road Bridge.

On February 1, 2025, the 124th Territorial Defense Brigade was reorganized into the 34th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade, becoming part of the Ukrainian Marine Corps.

Throughout its service, the 124th Territorial Defense Brigade has demonstrated resilience and dedication, contributing significantly to Ukraine’s defense efforts during times of conflict.
