The unit, known officially as military unit A7371, was formed during the full-scale invasion in 2022 and is headquartered in Kirovohrad Oblast. It includes battalions deployed across central Ukraine and is tasked with both regional defense and reinforcement of front-line operations.

Historical Background – 128th Territorial Defense Brigade:

The 128th Territorial Defense Brigade (military unit A7371) was established in 2022 in response to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Based in Kropyvnytskyi, the administrative center of Kirovohrad Oblast, the brigade was rapidly formed to organize local defense, train reservists, and support military infrastructure in central Ukraine.

While its primary mission was to secure Kirovohrad and nearby regions, the brigade’s units were quickly integrated into the broader defense strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Throughout 2022–2023, battalions of the 128th Brigade were deployed to reinforce Ukrainian positions in contested areas, including sectors of the southern front and Donetsk region.

The brigade remains actively engaged in both regional protection and nationwide operations, reflecting Ukraine’s reliance on decentralized but coordinated Territorial Defense formations during ongoing conflict.
