Historical Background – 131st Separate Reconnaissance Battalion:

The 131st Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, named after Colonel Yevhen Konovalets, is a distinguished unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. Established on April 1, 2015, the battalion was formed on the basis of two companies from the 54th and 129th reconnaissance battalions.

Since its inception, the battalion has been actively involved in various military operations, including the liberation of settlements such as Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, and Pishchevyk. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the battalion played a crucial role in the defense of Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, participating in reconnaissance, assault, and special operations.

On October 1, 2023, the battalion was honored with the name of Colonel Yevhen Konovalets, reflecting its valor and dedication to Ukraine’s sovereignty.
