Historical Background – 14th Mechanized Brigade:

The 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade was formed in December 2014 on the basis of the 51st Mechanized Brigade, which was disbanded following combat losses and structural reforms. The new unit inherited experienced personnel and equipment but underwent retraining and reorganization to meet NATO standards.

In 2018, the brigade was awarded the honorary name named after Prince Roman the Great”, a medieval ruler of Volhynia and Galicia. The brigade has since become a symbol of resilience in western Ukraine and one of the key elements of Ukraine’s defense line in the east.

It has participated in defensive and offensive operations in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Bakhmut sectors, and continues to play a leading role in Ukraine’s resistance against Russian aggression.
