The brigade is a vital part of Ukraine’s airspace monitoring system, responsible for detecting, tracking, and identifying airborne threats. It provides early warning data to air defense missile units and fighter aircraft, playing a critical role in national air defense.

Historical Background – 164th Radio-Technical Brigade:

The 164th Radio-Technical Brigade operates as part of the Air Command West of the Ukrainian Air Force. Stationed in western Ukraine, this brigade is equipped with a network of radar stations, mobile observation posts, and communication systems that provide continuous control over Ukrainian airspace.

Formed to enhance national early warning and detection capacity, the brigade works closely with anti-aircraft missile units and fighter squadrons.
