Historical Background – 1st Operational Brigade of the National Guard:

The 1st Operational Brigade is a rapid response unit under the command of the National Guard of Ukraine. It carries the honorary name of Ivan Bohun, a historical Ukrainian Cossack colonel and national hero, symbolizing resilience and independence.

The brigade has been active since the early stages of the war in Ukraine and is known for its participation in high-intensity engagements, including operations in Kyiv Oblast, eastern regions, and urban combat zones. It includes mechanized infantry, reconnaissance groups, and assault elements.

Trained under both Ukrainian and NATO-aligned standards, the 1st Brigade plays a vital role in both homeland defense and offensive operations. Its structure allows for flexible deployment, including counter-sabotage actions, convoy security, and clearing operations.

This patch is an original Ukrainian-manufactured insignia worn by soldiers of the 1st Operational Brigade currently engaged in active duty across various regions of Ukraine.
