Historical Background – 241st Territorial Defense Brigade:

The 241st Territorial Defense Brigade was officially established in 2022, during the early stages of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Based in Kyiv, the brigade was formed by reorganizing several battalions that previously belonged to the 112th Territorial Defense Brigade. This reorganization was carried out to create a more flexible and responsive force capable of both defending the capital and deploying to high-intensity combat zones.

The brigade includes multiple well-known battalions, such as the 130th, 204th, and 206th TDF battalions, which have been actively engaged in battles around Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Kupiansk. Units from the 241st Brigade are known for participating in some of the fiercest fighting of the war, often integrated with mechanized and airborne formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition to frontline duties, the brigade also plays a critical role in protecting Kyiv’s strategic infrastructure and supporting mobilization and training efforts.

As of 2024, the 241st Brigade remains one of the most battle-hardened and actively deployed Territorial Defense formations in Ukraine.
