• Formation and Evolution: The division traces its origins to the 31st Tank Corps, established on May 28, 1943, which played a pivotal role during the Battle of Kursk. Over the decades, it underwent several transformations, ultimately reestablished as the 3rd Motor Rifle Division in 2016.

• Current Structure and Location: The division’s headquarters are located in Valuyki, with key units stationed in Boguchar. It operates under the command of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army.

• Notable Units: Within the division, the 252nd Guards Motor Rifle Regiment is based in Boguchar, playing a critical role in the division’s operational capabilities.

  On December 4, 2023, by Decree of the President of Russia No. 926, the 99th self-propelled artillery regiment of the division was awarded the honorary title of “Guards” for its steadfastness and courage during combat operations.[6]
