Historical Background โ€“ 48th Storage Arsenal:

The 48th Arsenal of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is one of the countryโ€™s key strategic ammunition storage and distribution facilities. Located near Kalynivka in Vinnytsia Oblast, it gained wide public attention after a massive explosion occurred in September 2017, which Ukrainian authorities later attributed to sabotage.

Before and after the incident, the arsenal served as a crucial hub for managing and storing tens of thousands of tons of ammunition, including artillery shells, rockets, and small arms munitions. Since the beginning of the war in 2014, and especially during the full-scale invasion in 2022, the role of such arsenals became even more vital in ensuring continuous supply to frontline units.

Personnel at the 48th Arsenal are involved in logistics, security, explosive safety protocols, and coordination with active combat brigades. The arsenal remains a cornerstone of Ukraineโ€™s logistical resilience during the ongoing war.
