4th State Central Inter Service Range Patch
8x10cm – official field uniform insignia of the 4th GTSMP (Государственный Центральный Межвидовой Полигон) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This patch is made from durable fabric with Velcro (hook) backing and is worn by personnel at the legendary Kapustin Yar testing complex, located near the town of Znamensk, Astrakhan Oblast.
Used on field and tactical uniforms, the patch typically displays symbolic elements related to missile testing, radar systems, or experimental weaponry.
The 4th GTSMP is one of the most important military proving grounds in Russia, involved in testing strategic missile systems, air defense systems, and advanced weaponry across all branches of the Armed Forces.
Historical Background – 4th GTSMP (Kapustin Yar):
Established in 1946, Kapustin Yar became the USSR’s first testing site for ballistic missile development. Located in the Astrakhan region, the range was critical to the development of Soviet and later Russian strategic missile forces, air defense systems, and space-launch technologies.
The 4th State Central Inter-Service Range serves all military branches and remains active in testing the latest military hardware, including hypersonic systems and advanced radar.
Due to its restricted status, unit patches from this site are uncommon and valued among collectors of rare and technical military insignia.
