The flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic consists of three equal horizontal stripes: black, blue, and red. The black symbolizes the fertile land of Novorossiya and the coal of the Donbas region; the blue represents the spirit of the people and the waters of the Azov Sea; the red signifies the blood shed for the freedom of the people. This flag has been in use since 2014, representing the pro-Russian separatist movement in Eastern Ukraine. ​Used by DPR Separatists and Volunteers as a morale and insignia patch
