Historical Background – VSP Main Directorate:

The Military Law Enforcement Service of Ukraine (VSP) was established in 2002 as the official military police of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Main Directorate serves as the command center responsible for directing and coordinating all regional VSP units and special operations groups.

During the war in Donbas (since 2014) and especially following the full-scale invasion in 2022, the VSP’s role expanded dramatically. Its Main Directorate oversees critical tasks such as maintaining order among military personnel, preventing sabotage and desertion, conducting internal investigations, and securing logistics zones.

VSP officers from the Main Directorate are deployed across Ukraine, supporting command structures and frontline units in maintaining operational discipline during the ongoing war.
