DESCRIPTION

Operational Command West Patch 7x8cm — Ukrainian Armed Forces patch made from durable PVC with Velcro (hook side), representing the personnel and units under Operational Command West (ОК Захід). This insignia is worn on tactical uniforms, body armor, and field gear by soldiers and command staff operating across Ukraine’s western military district.

The command is headquartered in Rivne and plays a strategic role in coordinating military readiness, regional defense, and logistical operations in the western oblasts of Ukraine, particularly those bordering NATO countries.

Historical Background – Operational Command West:

Operational Command West was established in 2015 as part of Ukraine’s post-2014 defense modernization. It replaced the previous Western Operational Command and took responsibility for all military formations located in Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ternopil, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi Oblasts.

While the western region has remained relatively secure, OC West has been critical in organizing troop mobilization, training of Territorial Defense Forces, and managing logistics and supply lines supporting eastern and southern operations.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, the command has been tasked with defending Ukraine’s western borders, coordinating international aid, and preparing combat units for deployment to active fronts. It also plays a central role in integrating NATO-standard training through partnerships with allied countries.

As of 2024, OC West remains one of the most important rear-area command structures in Ukraine, providing continuous support to combat operations across the country.
