Oplot Novorossiya Battalion Patch represents a significant formation within the pro-Russian forces of Novorossiya during the war in Eastern Ukraine. Measuring 10×8 cm and embroidered in classic military style, this patch is issued without Velcro, suitable for direct sewing onto clothing or tactical equipment.
Historical Background – Oplot Battalion:
The Oplot Battalion originated in Kharkiv in January 2014 as a pro-Russian anti-Maidan movement, initially organized by Evgeny Zhilin, founder of a martial arts club known for its rhinoceros symbol and slogan “Live Strong”. The battalion was later associated with Alexander Zakharchenko, former Ukrainian police officer and later head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

April 2014: Members of Oplot took part in the seizure of the Donetsk Regional Administration building and called for a referendum on the status of Donetsk Oblast.

May 2014: Secured Rinat Akhmetov’s residence in Donetsk and cooperated with Vostok Battalion, controlling major sites in Donetsk, including TV stations and city council buildings.

Summer 2014: Participated in battles near Marinovka, the border checkpoint at Izvaryne, and Saur-Mohyla, a strategic height in Donetsk Oblast.

July 2014: Actively fought in the Battle for Donetsk Airport.

Late 2014: Transformed into a separate motorized rifle brigade and incorporated as the 5th Brigade of the 1st Army Corps of the DPR People’s Militia.
