Historical Background – Red Banner Pacific Border District (KTPD):
The Red Banner Pacific Border District (KTPD) was a military-administrative operational formation of the border troops of the KGB of the USSR and later the Federal Border Service of Russia. Established in the early 1920s, the KTPD was responsible for guarding the land borders of the USSR with China, North Korea, and Japan (until 1945), as well as protecting the Pacific coastline from the Primorsky Krai to the Bering Strait.
Throughout its history, the KTPD played a crucial role in safeguarding the eastern frontiers of the Soviet Union and later Russia, adapting to various geopolitical changes and challenges.
