This Group North Patch represents one of the regional formations within Russia’s Unified Group of Forces (OGV) active during the Special Military Operation (SVO) in Ukraine. The patch is marked “КУРСК” (Kursk) and features a circular khaki-on-black embroidered design, commonly worn by units in northern front sectors, including Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk directions.

The Unified Grouping of Forces (OGV) was established in late 2022 to consolidate military control and coordination across Ukraine’s frontlines. In April 2024, the Group North (Sever) formation was created, including:

• Group “Belgorod”

• Group “Kursk”

• Group “Bryansk”

Commanded by Colonel General Alexander Lapin, Group North is headquartered in Rostov-on-Don and operates along the northeastern border axis.
