Russian Sever Patch – White Geometric Emblem

DESCRIPTION

This Russian Sever Patch displays «СЕВЕР» in large pale letters above an interlaced geometric emblem on a black field. The Russian word translates as “North” and is transliterated as Sever. The rectangular face uses a simple black and white arrangement, with the title occupying the upper part and the angular device centred below it. A dark border frames the complete design shown in the photograph.

The central emblem consists of intersecting diagonal strokes and diamond shaped outlines. Its pale lines contrast strongly with the background, matching the colour of the lettering above. The word and device are separate elements within the same face, rather than a single monogram. Recording both is useful because the word Sever appears in different Russian military and civilian contexts, sometimes with quite different accompanying illustrations.

This example can be identified precisely from its visible combination of title and geometric sign. The text contains five Cyrillic letters, with stylised forms that may look unfamiliar to an English reader. The initial С has the sound of an English S; it is not the Latin letter C. The English catalogue name therefore uses Sever rather than attempting to read the inscription as a Latin word.

For a collection of Sever Cyrillic insignia, the black ground, pale lettering and intersecting diamond motif are the useful details for comparison. The Russian geometric badge differs from shield shaped designs, patches displaying an animal beneath the same name, and versions with extra unit numbers or slogans. Its face is limited to the single word and central device, leaving the composition visually spare and readily distinguishable.

The photographed black and white military patch is offered as one individual specimen at €25, with one available. The product image shows the whole front, including the outer edge and the position of the inscription relative to the emblem. The description preserves the exact visible name and translates it for readers who do not read Russian. When comparing similarly named pieces, the accompanying device remains as important as the wording: this listing is specifically the interlaced angular version on a rectangular black field, with the pale geometric sign pictured beneath «СЕВЕР».
