Special Operations Forces Patch

8x10cm – tactical sleeve insignia of the elite Special Operations Forces (SSO) based at the Kubinka-2 center near Moscow. Made from durable embroidered fabric and backed with Velcro (hook side), this patch is designed for use on field uniforms, gear, or tactical vests in combat or training conditions.

SSO units operate under the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and specialize in reconnaissance, direct action, counter-terrorism, deep insertion operations, and strategic missions both within and beyond Russian borders.

The Kubinka-2 center is believed to host some of the most capable and highly trained operatives in the Russian special operations structure. The field patch typically uses a subdued color palette to maintain low visibility during missions.

Historical Background – Russian Special Operations Forces (SSO):

Formed in the early 2010s as a response to the need for high-readiness strategic forces, the SSO became a core special operations entity within the Russian military. Operatives from Kubinka-2, near Moscow, are deployed for critical missions including high-value target elimination, sabotage, covert recon, and support for foreign military operations.

While most of their activities are classified, SSO units are known to have operated in the North Caucasus, Syria, and other regions. The Kubinka-2 base remains a central hub for training and command of Russia’s most elite military formations.

Patches from such units are rare and highly respected in the tactical and collectors’ community.
