TDF North Territorial Defense Patch
DESCRIPTION

TDF North Territorial Defense Patch — Ukrainian Armed Forces patch made of durable PVC with Velcro (hook side), representing units of the Territorial Defense Forces (TRO) under the Northern Operational Command. The patch, produced in Ukraine, is used by volunteer and reserve formations operating in northern oblasts during the war in Ukraine.

Measuring 7×8 cm, this field patch is intended for combat gear, tactical vests, or uniforms. It symbolizes combat readiness and the regional affiliation of defenders stationed in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, and Zhytomyr regions.

Historical Background – TDF “North”:

TRO “Sever” refers to a cluster of Territorial Defense battalions and brigades operating under the jurisdiction of Operational Command “North” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This formation includes units stationed in Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Zhytomyr oblasts — regions that faced immediate military threats during the 2022 Russian invasion.

In February–March 2022, TRO “Sever” units took part in the defense of Chernihiv, battle for Konotop, and fortification of Kyiv’s northern approaches, including combat operations in Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel. These units, consisting largely of mobilized reservists and local volunteers, played a crucial role in halting the enemy advance toward the capital.

After Russian forces retreated from the north, TRO “Sever” formations were reorganized, trained, and partially redeployed to support operations in Donbas and southern Ukraine. They remain engaged in both regional protection duties and frontline missions, contributing to Ukraine’s layered national defense strategy.
