DESCRIPTION

Ukrainian Air Assault Forces Command Patch 7x8cm – An official PVC insignia representing the Command of the Air Assault Forces (DShV) of Ukraine. Measuring 7×8 cm, this patch features a Velcro (hook) backing and is made from high-quality PVC, intended for field use on combat gear and uniforms.

This insignia is used by senior officers and personnel assigned to the command structure of Ukraine’s elite Air Assault Forces. The patch design often features a symbolic winged sword or parachute icon, marking the airborne identity of DShV leadership.

Worn in combat zones since 2016 and actively during the full-scale Russian invasion, this patch identifies staff responsible for planning, coordination, and control of Ukraine’s elite assault brigades across the front.

Historical Background – Ukrainian Air Assault Forces Command (DShV):

The Command of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces (Командування Десантно-штурмових військ України, ДШВ) was officially established on November 21, 2017, as an independent branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It oversees all Ukrainian airborne and airmobile units, including brigades like the 79th, 80th, 95th, and 25th Air Assault Brigades.

The formation of the DShV command marked Ukraine’s transition from a Soviet-style airmobile doctrine to a Western-style air assault force, with emphasis on rapid deployment, aggressive maneuvering, and combined-arms tactics.

Since the beginning of the 2022 Russian invasion, the DShV command has directed key operations across all major battlefronts — from the defense of Kyiv and Mykolaiv to counteroffensives in the Kharkiv and Bakhmut sectors. Command personnel are directly involved in operational planning, artillery coordination, and battlefield integration with NATO-standard systems.

The DShV remains one of the most respected and heavily engaged components of the Ukrainian military in the ongoing war.
