DESCRIPTION

This Ural Assault Brigade Patch is a circular Russian unit insignia with red Cyrillic lettering, a silver winged sword emblem, and a black textile field. The outer inscription reads “Отдельная штурмовая бригада,” translated as “Separate Assault Brigade,” while the lower word “Урал” identifies the formation as “Ural.”

The central sword and stylized wings communicate an assault formation theme built around speed, striking power, and direct offensive action. Red lettering provides strong contrast against the black background, while two small white stars separate the upper title from the unit name. The design contains no rank, personal name, or battalion number.

The formation originated in 2023 as the Separate Volunteer Assault Battalion “Ural,” reportedly assembled in Yekaterinburg and deployed to the war in Ukraine. Open-source accounts state that it was reorganized in October 2023 as the 137th Separate Assault Brigade “Ural,” associated with Russia’s Central grouping of forces. The patch therefore represents a named contemporary Russian assault formation rather than a generic slogan design.

This 137th Separate Assault Brigade insignia uses a compact circular layout suited to uniform or equipment display. The Russian volunteer assault unit badge combines the formation’s full title with a modern winged-sword emblem. As a Central Military District formation patch, it belongs to the visual identity of a unit formed during the current conflict period.
