The patch is strongly associated with personnel from the Wagner Group, a Russian private military company known for direct involvement in the Ukraine conflict, particularly during the battles for Bakhmut, Popasna, and Soledar. While Wagner officially operated outside the structure of the Russian Armed Forces, its members wore distinctive patches like this one during frontline deployment in Ukraine and operations in Africa and the Middle East.
